What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign uses a series of removable mouthpieces instead of traditional braces to improve the alignment of your teeth and jaw. Invisalign aligners are made of an FDA-approved thermoplastic, called SmartTrack®. SmartTrack contains no BPS, latex, or gluten, making treatment safe for those with allergies and pregnant people.

Invisalign is quick, convenient, and discreet. The aligners blend in with your smile and most people complete treatment within 12 months*.

What alignment issues can Invisalign treat?

At iSmiles Kids Dentistry and Orthodontics, the team uses Invisalign to treat various alignment issues, including:

  • Crooked teeth
  • Overlapping teeth
  • Crowding
  • Gaps between teeth
  • A malpositioned jaw

You might also be a candidate for Invisalign if you have a bite abnormality, like crossbite, overbite, or underbite.

What does Invisalign treatment involve?

At iSmiles Kids Dentistry and Orthodontics, Dr. Brandon prescribes Invisalign to adults and teens.

Before moving forward with treatment, your provider conducts an oral exam and takes digital X-rays to assess the alignment of your teeth and jaw. They also take impressions of your mouth with the iTERO® intraoral scanner and upload them to a computer-aided design (CAD) program.

Your iSmiles Kids Dentistry and Orthodontics provider uses the CAD program to develop a treatment plan that maps the step-by-step movements of your teeth and jaw. After finalizing the plan, your provider sends the scans to an Invisalign lab. Technicians at the lab use your scans to design and manufacture the first set of Invisalign aligners.

During treatment, you visit iSmiles Kids Dentistry and Orthodontics every few weeks. You change into a new set of aligners at each checkup. The team monitors your progress and makes adjustments as necessary.

How long does treatment with Invisalign take?

Treatment with Invisalign usually takes 12-18 months*, but it may take longer. To ensure a positive outcome, follow the team’s instructions, attend each of your checkups, and wear your aligners for 20-22 hours a day, only removing them to brush and floss or eat.

How do I keep my Invisalign aligners clean?

To prevent plaque and food particles from building up on your Invisalign aligners, clean them regularly. The team at iSmiles Kids Dentistry and Orthodontics recommends rinsing your aligners with cool tap water several times a day and brushing them with a soft-bristle toothbrush before going to bed.
